Review of ‘The Act Itself’

This is a review of a new Erotica publication: The Act Itself

On the weekend we had the pleasure of taking a look at a brand new publication from BearManor Media titled ‘The Act Itself.’ A brand spankin’ new erotica publication, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on what was sure to be 150 pages of pure bliss. We were not disappointed when we received our copy to find that it was teeming with the steamiest erotica from the first page until the very last.

Published three times a year – ‘The Mrs,’ is the ‘hostess,’ and editor of this lovely new publication and she does a fantastic job of presenting a variety of different erotic short stories, essays and pictorials. The philosophy of ‘The Act Itself,’ seems to be around the idea that what you can’t see and experience makes the rest of life all the more sexy. “Erotica. Rather than porn,” is the psudo-tagline and being that both Mike and myself love sharing erotica with each other, we couldn’t be more in tune with this philosophy (although we do love our porn too J).

Perhaps my favorite story of the bunch was titled ‘Another Night at the Cuck & Bull,’ which told the story of a husband and wife attending a Cuck & Bull Club for a little Saturday night action. Written by Vanessa Smythe, the story got so hot I didn’t know what to do with myself at one point. Mike and I have never attended such an event but I couldn’t help but get a little bit steamy by the thought. Below is a small excert from ‘Another Night at the Cuck & Bull,’;

The door opened behind him and two more men wandered in to watch. Alan heard

them say how much better it looked on a bigger screen and realized that the video of

his wife with these two men was also appearing on TVs in the rooms on the other side

of the dance floor. Everywhere, in almost every room throughout the club, people were

able to watch his wife being taken by these two men.

Another really nice feature of the publication is the pictorials section which features ‘normal,’ naked people in a variety of different scenes. I really enjoyed the ‘Topless Tourism,’ portion which showed off one particular woman taking in the sights and sounds of her holiday topless! I thought it came across as both empowering and a little bit humorous too!

I am really looking forward to the next issue which should be out in the next month or so. The publication dates read as the end of April, August and December and they are currently open to submissions of short fiction and art as well as open to advertising and nonfiction queries. Make sure to check it out!
